SDG Training Workshop at UN-GGIM 8
This two-day workshop, given in the context of the Eighth session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM 8) on July 30-31, 2018, aims to illustrate the potential and current uses and applications of Earth Observations and Geospatial Information to monitor the SDGs, through a combination of lectures and hands-on activities, featuring guest speakers from the UN-GGIM, the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) / EO4SDG initiative, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) program, Geoscience Australia, and Conservation International. Participants will learn how to access, interpret and apply Earth observation data on local and global scales, with an emphasis on case studies, and a direct application to SDG monitoring and reporting. Particular focus will be given to countries of the Latin American and Caribbean regions, including priorities and data/methodological needs to monitor and report on the SDGs.
This is a closed event (by invitation only).
