GPSDD Data for Development Festival
EO4SDG is participating in the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD)’s Data for Development Festival on 21-23 March, 2018 in Bristol. The Festival will focus on driving action and fostering strong links that will lead to improved outcomes as the Global Partnership community looks ahead, in the short term to the 73rd UN General Assembly in September and the World Data Forum in October, and in the longer term to 2030. EO4SDG, in collaboration with the GEO Secretariat and other contributors, is co-organizing the Planet track, with a focus on how can we leverage data, including satellite-based and other types of Earth observations, and innovative modalities such as twinning cities, to protect oceans, strengthen agriculture and food security systems, develop disaster resilience and emergency response, and more.
Further, EO4SDG is leading a session on ‘Earth Observation Applications and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’. This session will provide an opportunity for sharing use cases of methods, data products, tools, and technologies in support of global reporting and national implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while addressing interdependencies across SDG targets and indicators. It will also enable discussions around opportunities and next steps for scaling up successful methods, and relevant datasets, tools and technologies that can support this process.
The Data for Development Festival will provide an opportunity for attendees to participate in numerous thematic events, network with the global data community, meet representatives of the Global Partnership’s new Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Group, and shape the partnership’s future.
