Call for Nominations for the EO4SDG Board

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Earth Observations for Sustainable Development Goals (EO4SDG) initiative is seeking nominations of experts in sustainable development, experts in Earth science and geospatial information, representatives of government, industry, non-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations and inter-governmental organizations to serve on the Initiative’s Board

Expectations

The Board provides support to the EO4SDG initiative spanning strategic direction-setting to tactical aspects. Board members and lead(s) serve a two-year term with a maximum of two terms. The expected time commitment for Board activities is 5 to 10 hours per month. Board members are not compensated for their Board participation. Travel funding to in-person events for Board members from developing countries may be available from the GEO Secretariat. Additional information is available in the Terms of Reference.

Nominations

People can nominate individuals and self-nominations are allowed. A review committee composed of the EO4SDG co-chairs and executive director, and the GEO Secretariat SDG coordinator, will assess nominations and invite selected candidates to a strategy and kickoff meeting in May 2022. In line with the GEO Statement on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, geographic, gender balance and other diversity factors will be considered in recruitment and selection. Based on the Initiative’s recent history, particular preference will be given to increase representation from Africa and Asia-Oceania, female and non-binary candidates, and users.

To nominate an individual to the EO4SDG Board, please include the following:

1. Name, affiliation (country or organization), pronouns (e.g., she, he, they) and contact information of your nominee.

2. A brief statement on the nominee’s experience and expertise relevant to EO4SDG and the initiative’s vision and purpose.

Nominations are due by April 25, 2022.
