UN-Habitat 12th World Urban Forum: 4-8 November

The World Urban Forum (WUF) was established in 2001 by the United Nations to address one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies. Convened by UN-Habitat, the Forum is a high level, open and inclusive platform for addressing the challenges of sustainable urbanization.

Held in Cairo, Egypt, WUF12 will feature an opening and closing session, assemblies, dialogues, special sessions, roundtables and an Urban Expo hosted and facilitated by UN-Habitat, the Government of Egypt and other Partners.

Key topics to be discussed at WUF12 include:

    • – Adequate housing for all and the transformation of informal settlements
    • – Cities and the climate crisis
    • – Partnerships and coalitions to bridge global goals to local realities
    • – Unlocking local financing for sustainable development
    • – Harnessing technology to enhance quality of life without leaving anyone behind
    • – Building safe homes in the face of destruction and displacement
