This training is a side meeting during the Geo Week 2017 and aims to address how NASA satellite observations can be used to address UN Sustainable Development Goals related to water quality, specifically Goal 6. The training will provide an overview of available data and ways to access it for monitoring harmful algal blooms, sediments, and other water pollutants. This will be most relevant for personnel involved with managing water quality and aquatic ecosystems and research and application developers looking to combine satellite and in situ water quality data for decision making. Previous experience with satellite data is not needed, and this session is intended for beginners and those new to satellite observations. For more information, visit the Geo Week website and the side meeting’s webpage.
